Dr. Salinger Is On Call!

Hello everyone. I've got my hands full taking care of my hooman brother again today.

Ugh....Holden is SIIIIICK!



He's been honking and making all kinds of goose noises and mom SWEARS she saw THIS happen last night.....

Ok, maybe not THAT bad. But he's all phlegmy and gross sounding. Mom is thinking about loading up the paint sprayer with hand sanitizer and Lysol and giving this place a good hosedown!



I got to go to the pharmacy yesterday with Mom to pick up his prescriptions to make him better and then spent the rest of the day on duty like THIS...

He's feeling a bit better today, but I'm going to make sure he gets LOTS of rest and fluids today while he's still home from school.

More Mimi Fun

We've been keeping Mimi VERY busy and out of trouble!

Holden had his LAST football game yesterday and Mimi got to see him play! GO ARABIANS!!!! (I stayed home and watched The Flintstones because of the stupid "NO DOGS" rule at the stadium).


Holden's team won 22-0 and the peeps were FROZEN and soaked from the rain!!!

This morning, it was STILL raining, so Mimi wore mom's wellies to keep her feet dry.

I wore my raincoat just because it looked so fabulous....but no one made me go out for a walk in this mess, thankfully!!!!


Then tonight, Holden got all dressed up like a fancy waiter and then the peeps left for like 923928374832849 hours...

Holden plays in the PHMS Honors Band and they had their first concert of the year tonight! They sounded FABULOUS!


After the concert, we had a little birthday party here to celebrate Mimi's friend ANN's birthday! Ann lives in Arizona and has the CUTEST little Maltese baby girl named Ellie (just like our Pug friend Ellie!!)

Happy Birthday Ann! We know you're in AZ, but we'll have some cake here in Indy to celebrate your big day!


Mimi also helped Mom make my Halloween costume today. I don't want to talk about it.

First Day of School

Good morning Holden!!!!! Hey...why are you up so farkakte EARLY?

And WHY are you dressed already and smelling so good????



Aw crap....I think I know what this is about.....

School bag, up early, standing outside with mom and her flashy box.....It's THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!


Holden didn't ride the cheesewagon this morning...mom drove him because he had to carry SO MUCH CRAP....football stuff, school bag, lunch, french horn, gym clothes, etc. This was ok, because I got to ride along to the big MIDDLE SCHOOL!!!

Wow...the Middle School is MUCH bigger than Holden's old school!!!! I hope he doesn't get LOST inside!!!!



There goes my brudder, the big 7th grader!!!!!

I barked out for him to "HAVE A GREAT FIRST DAY!" but the parking lot nazis made mom move up and pull away really fast, so he probably didn't hear me.



Mom surprised me with a stop on the way home!

"Yes, hello! Large Diet Coke for mom and an order of scrambled eggies for ME please!!!"



MMMMMM!!!! This is almost as good as a McCheesyburger!!!!

I totally think we should drive Holden to school EVERY day because we pass right by here on the way!!!!

Sundays are perfect for......

Sitting on your brother!!!!! HAHAHAHAAAA!


Hey mom and dad....looks like Sunday would be a good day to STRAIGHTEN UP THE SHELVES too! How is a Pug supposed to get any productive thinking or napping done with all this crap cluttering up everything???

Sushi Saturday

Holden was in the mood for sushi today...so he decided to make some Tuna Rolls for lunch...

I got to watch him in action! Good job Holden-san!

I think you forgot to COOK this tuna! It's cold and RAW!



Forget this....

I require MY tuna to be grilled to a perfect medium with a light glaze of honey and sesame! This crap simply WON'T do!


Nice job making your sushi look all pretty Holden...but I'll pass!

Mom...quit operating that flashy box, get your keys and take me to get a McCheesyBurger so I can get this raw fish taste out of my PuggyMouth!

BIGtime Kudos to Holden!

This blog post contains the obnoxious rantings of a very proud to the point of bragging parent. Mom can't control herself, so if you find this type of ranting to be too much...just skip reading today!



Hi everyone and happy Thursday! Last night was Holden's SIXTH GRADE HONORS NIGHT and he made us all so proud!!!

Here he is with proud Mom (OMG...she had HEELS on too!)


The entire sixth grade was honored for all of their achievements...academic, artistic, athletic, attendance and citizenship!

Do you see Holden in the white shirt and tie? This was the presentation of the Jr. Beta awards.


Here is Holden posing with his teacher, Miss Schellinger!

She has been such a GREAT teacher for Holden because she really challenged him this year and made him WORK for his good grades. PERFECT prep for Middle School next year! She also made learning a lot of fun for the whole class and Holden has declared that she is his new "alltime favorite teacher"! Wow...that's a big honor!

All in all...Holden brought home the following honors:
President's Outstanding Academic Achievement Award (signed by President Obama!),
Band Award for participating in the Middle School band program (he made the HONORS BAND for next year too!),
Athletic Award for participation on the school Basketball Team,
Academic Spell Bowl Award,
and an award for his membership in Jr. Beta

I got to personally kiss/congratulate Holden when he got home (stoooopid "no dogs in school" rule again!).

WAY TO GO HOLDEN!!!! We're SO SO SO PROUD of you!!!!

OH NOOOOOOO!!!! That means he'll be away from me for the WHOLE DAY!

I don't like the sound of that...but I suppose I'll survive...as long as mom leaves me some snacks!

He Blinded Me With SCIENCE!

Yep...it's that time of year for Holden again...SCIENCE FAIR!!!
Here is his 2011 creation/submission....(drum roll please....)

PEARLY WHITES! He tested 3 methods for TOOTH WHITENING!

Since *I*, Salinger The Pug, am Holden's trusty assistant and good luck charm for most things, I will explain the project to you...

FIRST...he covered tiles with grout to simulate the "texture" of a tooth
NEXT, he soaked all the tiles in TEA for 24 hours.
THEN, for the next seven days, he treated the teeth in three different groups.
1. Crest whitening toothpaste, 2. baking soda, 3. Crest Whitestrips
His hypothesis was that the Whitestrips would be the most effective....


Let's see if he was right....

Hmmmm....the whitest tooth was the one treated with....

Crest Whitening Toothpaste (for 7 days). WOW! What a surprise!!!!


Mmmmm...these smell minty fresh and are just BEGGING for a taste!!!! NOM NOM NOM!
