Blueberries for Sal

Hi everyone! HOLDEN IS BACK!!! He's been visiting his dad in Ohio for a few weeks and now he's back here at home with MEEEEEEEEEE! YAY!
Photobucket
Welcome home, Brother!!!!

Mom took Holden to Spencer's Berry Farm today to pick BLUEBERRIES!
Photobucket

Photobucket

They mostly picked blueberries...but got a few black raspberries too!
Photobucket

I LOVE blueberries! Holden said "Hey, we can give some blueberries to Sal!" which made mom's brain wheels turn...
Photobucket
Because it's one of her favorite kid books of all time!!!

Holden has the book in his collection...so we thought this picture was perfect!
Photobucket
Mmmm...and the blueberries are delicious too!!!!

It's SO freakin' HOT (according to mom)

Yep...that's ALL mom's been saying lately..."It's SOOOO freakin' HOT outside!" She's been dragging my butt out of the big cloud bed at SIX THIRTY to do our 2.3 miles before it gets too hot outside, which then means that I don't usually speak to her for the rest of the day...
Photobucket
SIX THIRTY? Are you NUTS?

Just so you don't think we're being all dramatic about this...here is a pic of our weather station thermometer the other day...
Photobucket
The first number is INSIDE and the second number is OUTSIDE

I kept going out on the deck to snooze in the sun but mom was all flipped out and worried that I was going to roast myself or get overheated. She put Holden's sleeping bag out there for me to lie on
Photobucket
Ahhh...this is nice and cool! HEY WAIT A MINUTE......what is she dragging out here now????
Photobucket
Whaaaaaat is this farkakte thing???

A huge bowl to drink from???
Photobucket

A baby pool??? For ME???
Photobucket

I'm thinking NO!
Photobucket

Mom PICKED ME UP and plunked me down in the water. I stood there for a minute and just glared at her (sorry...no picture) and then walked out and then back to my nice warm spot on the deck to dry off.
Photobucket
I'm NOT a fan of the baby pool!

Happy Saturday everyone!

***MOM'S NOTE*** Ok...before people start calling the ASPCA on me...I'm NOT leaving Salinger outside all day! He has a doggie door and free run of the house and comes and goes as he likes, and just prefers to lie out in the sun and then comes in when he's had enough. We did this little pool experiment around 10 am when it wasn't as hot outside.

Errands with mom

Hi everyone! I got to run errands with mom yesterday! Check it out!

Come on mom! I've got the AC cranked in here and I'm waiting on you!
Photobucket

First stop was the Post Office. We have a really tiny one near our house that doesn't even have any people working inside! Everything is automated. Can you see how small it is?
Photobucket

Next stop was the dry cleaners to get Daddy's shirts!
Photobucket

I got to go inside and see my friend Debbie!!!
Photobucket
She's known me since I was a tiny puppy!

Those were the only stops that we had to make...so we went back home. I really wanted to make more stops!
Photobucket
Are we home ALREADY!???

Happy Friday everyone!

Can you help???

CALLING ALL BLOGGER PALS AND READERS!!!! Kind of a different type of post here...but we wanted to get the word out (especially headed EAST from here) to see if we can help out some fellow Pugs that need help this weekend!

There are SEVEN Pugs that have been rescued from a puppy mill on the west side of Indiana. This weekend, they are making their way to their new foster homes through Green Mountain Pug Rescue in Vermont, but they need help getting there!!!!

Please read the info below and contact sheri-transport@comcast.net if you can help.

KPR does not have foster homes for these pugs so Green Mountain Pug Rescue has agreed to take them.

Hi Everyone!

This transport MUST FILL by FRIDAY at 5:00 p.m. - - please help/crosspost!

SEVEN (7) puppymill rescue Pugs need a ride from Honey Creek Vet Clinic in Terre Haute, IN to fully-screened fosters for Green Mtn. Pug Rescue in VT this weekend! Passenger info is at bottom of this email. NOTE: Each Pug travels in his/her own SMALL wire crate (to stay with them thru transport).
Crates are PUG-SIZED: 22"X13"X16 - we have a small hatchback wagon and using the "way back" area, backseat and front seat, we could *easily* fit all seven crates! Even if you can only fit SOME of the Pugs, we still need you!! I'll request two drivers per leg, but if your vehicle can accommodate the 7 little crates, please let me know (we'll only need one driver for that leg). Legs are FLEXIBLE so let me know ASAP/privately what you can drive - any leg can be SPLIT to make it easier!

If you can drive this weekend, please provide your transport info & vehicle size (phone/cell, car/color, plates/state & rescue affiliation) ASAP. This transport will be fully-monitored, and permission is granted to crosspost. Thanks so much for considering this transport!

Post Father's Day

Happy Monday everyone! It was nice to have a day off from my blogger duties yesterday (thanks for filling in, mom!) but I have to tell you about MY Father's Day yesterday!

I'm pretty sure my daddy (Kevin) had a nice Father's Day! He and I slept in and snuggled in the big cloud bed and then I barked at him to come downstairs so I could give him the card I made for him!
Photobucket
"Here, Daddy!"

Photobucket
It's a picture of ME with a bunch of daddy's Allen wrenches (long story...maybe for another post, but Daddy has a LOT of Allen wrenches!).
Photobucket
The inside says "Daddy, if kisses were Allen wrenches, you'd need a whole warehouse of toolboxes to hold them all! Hope you get lots of hugs, kisses and buttscratches! Happy Father's Day!...Love, Salinger"

OOOHHH!! I think he likes it!!!!!
Photobucket

Mommy, Will and Lizz took Daddy out for lunch...he wanted Mexican, so we went to one of our favorite places just down the road...
Photobucket
They must have forgotten to bring me back something. Oh well!

So that was Father's Day for my HUMAN daddy...but I hope my PugDaddy had a nice Father's Day too!
Photobucket
This is RUFUS! I am one of SIX of his PugKids!
Happy Father's Day PugDaddy Rufus!!!!

We hope ALL of the daddies (Pug, human, etc.) had a WONDERFUL day yesterday!

Happy Father's Day!!!

Hi everyone and Happy Father's Day!!! Salinger has once again GRACIOUSLY agreed to allow me (Laura) to be a guest blogger just for the day so I can send some props and love to my dad for Father's Day (which I know he's going to hate...but what's he going to do...GROUND ME? hahahaha!)

THIS is my dad, Jim...just taken in the last week or so at Watson Lake in Prescott, AZ!
Photobucket
He lives in Arizona (with mom) and loves all things outdoorsy related after being cooped up indoors as a TEACHER for almost 30 years once upon a time!

Here is an old favorite pic of mine...the date on the back is June 6, 1970 which would make me a little over 3 months old and pretty close to his first Father's Day!
Photobucket
I could make a joke and tell you to imagine banjo music in your head while I tell you that this is his high school graduation picture (HAHAHA!) but the TRUTH is that he had just earned his Master's Degree!!!

Fast forward 38-ish years later and here we are....
Photobucket

I share dad with my younger brother Scott. I realize this is NOT the most flattering pic of ANY of us (hahaha...look at that look of teenage angst on my face! HAHAHA) but there is a very important detail in this picture that I have to share...
Photobucket
Look at my shoes (YES...my shoes!)
This pic was taken in 1982 (in Toronto on vacation!). This was about the time that designer labels and name brands were coming into vogue. Not having much of a clue in the months before this, I wore the regular tennis shoes from Sears (or wherever mom bought them from) and thought nothing of it...UNTIL....some jerky kids started to make fun of me at school for my "cheap shoes" (!!!). I remember dad coming to my rescue one night after dinner and took me to the mall and bought me my first pair of blue Nike shoes, saving me from further shoe ridicule at school! To this day, I don't know if he did it because he was a teacher and saw that kind of thing happen firsthand, or if mom made him do it...whichever it was, THANK YOU DAD! Sometimes character building works in strange ways, and those shoes felt like armor to me at the time. I wish I could say that dad also took my brother under his wing and did something about those tragically dorky tube socks, but sadly, no.

Dad is also know as "PA" to Holden...grandchild extraordinaire! He couldn't say the full word "Grandpa" when he was a baby, so "PA" it was!
Photobucket
FORE!

Photobucket
I love this pic of them fishing last fall!

OF COURSE we had to save the best for last...(since this IS Salinger's blog!)
Photobucket
Their first official meeting...

...and first KISS!
Photobucket

Happy Father's Day Dad!!! I hope your day is full of peace and quiet and everything else you love!!! Thanks for being the best dad and always being able to make me laugh! I LOVE YOU!

Happy Father's Day to all the other dads out there too...human, canine, whatever!

Have a great day!

P.S. Look out Kevin....you're up tomorrow!

A REAL history lesson...

Hi everyone! Mom was doing a bit of shopping today and made an AMAZING find at a retailer that specializes in the sublime and unusual. She picked up an "authentic" painting of what I believe to be my great (times 18) Grandfather, Colonel Hampton the Pug, the famous World War I flying Ace and TRUE pilot of The Sopwith Camel!!!
Photobucket

Many of you have no doubt been FOOLED over the years by a DISTORTED cartoon depiction of my dear relative as a BEAGLE in a popular cartoon. As you can tell from the AUTHENTIC painting (above), this could not be farther from the truth, as my dear ancestor was CLEARLY the most handsome of PUGS!

THIS is what many of you consider to be "the real deal"...
Photobucket

While entertaining for children, it doesn't represent the true heroism and panache of Colonel Hampton The Pug. In fact, in HIS day, he was nicknamed "The Most Interesting Pug in The World". It was Colonel Hampton (NOT THE BEAGLE) who finally shot down the dreaded Red Baron. THIS is what WOULD have happened to the silly Beagle...
Photobucket

So my dear readers, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to set the record straight and to introduce you to a TRUE American hero (cue Star Spangled Banner music NOW)...

***Mom's note*** I'm sure you've all figured out this story is complete crap and it's really just a cute print of a Pug that I got at TJ Maxx for $14.99 today!

2 SNAPS for my new faaaabulous jewelry!

Hi everyone! Well, even though I technically have been "out of the closet" since my tragic bust up with Soph-aay a few months ago, I am now proudly displaying my "status"...shall we say?

Mom had lunch with Hank's mom (Aunt Sarah) the other day and LOOK what she bought for me in Milwaukee at the PugFest!
Photobucket
I know it's hard to see...but it's a purple and silver crown that says "QUEEN"!

Mom thought it would look very "Village People" on my black leather studded collar!
Photobucket
Wow...check out that PROFILE! Is it any wonder that my life partner/BPF Pugsley finds me irristible? (click here for a flashback!)

Mom says I look like I should be the PosterPug for a PFLAG chapter for Pugs (if such a thing ever existed)
Photobucket
(stay tuned and check back here...dad is going to snap a pic of her in her PUG PRIDE tshirt)

Thank you Aunt Sarah! I love you more than Judy Garland and I love my new "Queen" charm and will wear it proudly!

OH...and TGIF everyone! WHOOHOO!!!

Will work for treats!

Hey Dad! When is it going to be “Take Your Pug To Work Day”? I don’t see it anywhere in your Blackberry!
Photobucket
WHAAAT? You don’t think The Feds have a “Take Your Pug To Work Day”????? What kind of crap is that? I think you need to get on the stick and make it happen!!!
In the meantime, I’ll just be here…resting my chin on your briefcase.

Wabbit season

Just a quick post today...

LOOK closely at my face.........(ME...just ignore Mom)
Photobucket
Mom fed me some cottage cheese for lunch and then she laughed herself stupid and kept calling me BUGS BUNNY!

What's a Pug have to do to get a napkin around here???

**HEY...don't forget to jump on over and bookmark Mom's Freezer Project blog! She's cleaning out the freezer and just finished documenting day 8! Just over a week and crap is STILL falling out and breaking her feet every time she opens the farkakte thing!**

Woofstock!

Hey maaaaaaan! Mom and dad took me to Woofstock on Saturday and it was FAAAAAARRR OUT!
Photobucket

Here I am with my old lady (a.k.a. MOM)
Photobucket

and the old man (a.k.a. DAD)
Photobucket

We got to listen to some live local music. No Joan Baez or Arlo Guthrie or anything like I thought, but it was still a real gas, man!

We met up with my life partner/BPF Pugsley and his new sister Low Rider Lola. Here's a good pic of us just being mellow and spacing out...
Photobucket

We didn't see any funny brown acid being passed around, but we DID come home with all of THIS free swag!
Photobucket

It was an outta sight experience and we hope that the Hamilton County Humane Society raised a lot of dough for our 4 legged brothers and sisters out there.

Peace, love and treats, man!
