Indy Mini Meetup

Our Indy Pug Meetup was yesterday at Broadripple Park...but it was raining and thundering and mom said she didn't need the aggravation...so we skipped it and just went to the MINI MEETUP (a.k.a. "the after-party") at The Pug Posse's house! All but 2 of the Indy Bloggers were there (we missed you Heather and Annie!) but we had a GREAT time INDOORS.

Mom said that she was going to try and get me to have fun this time instead of just being the lone wolf that I am. Things started out ok when I got hugs from Jami (Apollo's mom) and Sarah (Hank and Molly's mom...peeking around me)

I had to be nice and show Jami some love because she and Sean just got MARRIED on the 4th of July! CLICK HERE to go say HI and congratulate them!

Sarah is the one that says my face always looks like I've just received tragic news!

I had to show her some love since she bought me that cool "Queen" charm that I'm wearing (click here for a refresher).

I got some good buttscratches from Cindy (Brutus and Yoda's mom)


I sat with Kelly for a while (Sophie, Dixie and Harley's mom)

and all was fine until...........

THE TAUNTING BEGAN!!!!!!


...and Holden started to snuggle Sophie (JEALLLLOUS!)


I was starting to get mad......

Grrrrrrrrrr!

I was ready to leave right then and there, but then HANK and my DAD started talking.....


...and came up with THIS brilliant idea.........

The humiliation was getting to be TOO much to handle...all I could look at was that DOOR so I could get the hell out of there!!!!

Of COURSE we had to take the usual Indy Blogger shot...so I sat somewhat politely for that nonsense...

So after the flashes stopped, I PLEADED with mom and dad to take me OUT of there at once and get me back to my nice quiet house where the only Pug walking around is ME!


Thank you to Vikki and Dennis for being the perfect hostess/host and for a fun day, despite the crummy weather!

***MOM'S NOTE*** Ok...maybe we overdramatized a bit. We DID have a great time (Salinger included) but he's just used to being an "only dog" (kind of like if you threw an only child into a room with 18 other kids). He's just fine...just more of a "people dog" is all.

Mom is wiped out and doesn't have much to blog about today...so enjoy this cute pic of me yawning on Holden's bed...


ALSO...check out this commercial for a local grocery store chain we have here in Indy (Marsh). Mom love this goofy song and has been walking around trying to make the popping sounds and making us all crazy.

3...2...1...BLAST OFF!

Hi everyone! Well...as you can see, mom decided NOT to send me to the meat packing plant and followed advice and put an ugly old blanket over the duvet and part of the down comforter at bedtime last night and there was NO PUKING!

Last night...I got to go to a ROCKET LAUNCH (after mom promised it wasn't a trick so she could blast me straight to the moon!) Holden built a model rocket and was excited to shoot it off. We went up to Holden's school and made the field our launch site. Here I am waiting...

OH...those dudes are Justin (one of Holden's buddies), Holden and Daddy (Kevin).

He's a very cool kid and makes mom laugh!


Roger, Houston, this is Launch Director Salinger...final launch sequence check and go-no go...HOLDEN: We're go for launch! DADDY: Roger, we're a go! JUSTIN: We are go for launch! Final launch status is confirmed....Stand by for final ignition....5....4....3....main engine start.....2.....1.....and liftoff of Captain Holden's first mission into space!

NO! I wasn't scared! Come on mom!!!!


Next...Holden had a little plastic rocket that was powered by baking soda and vinegar. It took several attempts (from EACH of us) to make it work, and our car will be smelling "fresh and confident" (hahaha!) for weeks because it kept exploding on us!


Daddy discovered the cool "burn mark" on the launch pad of the big rocket!

Daddy is ready for another rocket mission after a trip to Hobby Lobby for more rocket engines!

Big Cloud Bed Makeover...Pug Style!!!

Mom has declared herself SICK of the way their bedroom looks (totally unfinished) so she finally decided to start working on it. She PAINTED (silver/gray) while Dad was in Chicago and picked out a new duvet cover and down comforter and shams for the big cloud bed. Here is the finished product....


She and dad LOVE it and told me as we went to bed last night "Salinger, if you puke on this new bedding...I'm dropping you off at the MEAT PACKING PLANT in the morning!" (I'm kind of a pukey pug...it happens).

Fast forward a few hours to around THREE AM! Mom and dad are both SOUND asleep and I decided to do some redecorating of my OWN and add some more color to this new bedding ensemble. Mom won't gross you out too much...but let's just say that she was half coherent and cleaning up my PUKE and using a LOT of swear words at me. She TOOK MY STAIRS away so I couldn't get back up into the Big Cloud Bed and told me to go sleep with Holden (which I HAPPILY did).

Somehow...she got it all off the new duvet, but look at her BRAND NEW down comforter.....

Nice! Cloud white tinged with PugPuke orange!!!!! Lovely!

Here are my stairs...which now lead to nowhere...


...and ME trying to figure out how the heck I'm going to get back up there to do some more redecorating...


Here are just SOME of the farkakte cleaning products that mom is going to use to get the white cloud comforter WHITE again before taking it to the dry cleaner.

She's pretty used to getting PugPuke out of things...as you can see.


Look how sad and pathetic I am...all while mom is yelling at me and talking about going to that Meat Packing Plant again....

I'm going to use this on my "ADOPT ME" poster that I'm going to post around the neighborhood. Now I ask you....WHO wouldn't love this face to puke in their bed???


Here's me making a run for it down the hall to Holden's room where I don't have to listen to her yelling bad words at me anymore...

Man...she's got some lungs on her!!!!


***Mom's note*** Just before everyone flips out worrying and tells me to take him to the vet......he's fine. He's just "pukey" and from what I understand...it runs in his family. He's always been this way and I think it has something to do with the days that end in Y that make him yack. He's running around being crazy today like nothing is wrong, so he MAY escape the Meat Packing Plant this time after all!

Falls Park

Hi everyone! Yesterday was a nice cool day (upper 70's) so mom, Holden and I went to Falls Park here in Pendleton to hike the trails!

Can you believe this used to be a public swimming area back in the old days? Now it's just used for fishing and for idiots to throw their trash into.


Holden took over camera duties and did a good job capturing all of the cool things we encountered on our walk...like THESE guys!


I tried to get close enough to say HI properly, but I must have offended them...

Oh well....


NEXT, we looked down off one of the bridges, but we didn't see any fish this time.



Mom and I checked out one of the old train tunnels...

We're taking a wild guess that this was built in 1910!


Holden took some really nice pictures of the scenery...







On the way back, Holden spotted this unusual tree...

It grows SUNGLASSES!!! Hahahaha!


We took our lunch to the park and had a picnic in the gazebo! I was SO thirsty!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy Birthday USA!!!!!!!!!!


It's been raining here all day today and mom is kind of relieved...she thinks that the rain may help if/when one of our hilljack neighbors catch our house on fire with one of their fireworks!!!

Mom also hopes that all of the emergency rooms around the Indy area are well staffed tonight because from the sounds of things outside, there are bound to be some bloody stumps showing up!

Mardi Gras in July.....in Indiana

WHOOOOOOHOOO! We had a Mini-Mardi Gras at our house last night! Be sure to check out our FREEZER BLOG today because it goes hand in hand with our entry here about BEIGNETS (pronounced Ben-YAYs)!

You may remember a few weeks ago when Heather and Harry sent us a special care package (CLICK HERE). Mom made red beans and rice for dinner and decided that it was time to bust out the beignet mix and get to work.

Here she is giving them their powdered sugar dusting after they were cooked......


TAH-DAH!!



Before they were ready for tasting...mom made some iced cafe au lait (JUST like they serve at Cafe Du Monde...home of the beignet!)



Ok...sample time.........

Daddy said he felt like he was sitting in the French Market in N'awlins and Holden just said "OMG!"


Then it was MY turn!

Are you KIDDING ME with these???? These are freakin' AMAZING!


The worst part about beignets (well aside from them being like a bajillion calories each) is that you get wicked "powdered sugar face".....as seen here......

That's ok though....it's totally easy to just lick it off!

Annual checkup

Happy Hump Day everyone!!!

I had part 2 of my annual checkup at the vet's office today (Mom took me yesterday for part of my shots and then the other part was today so I didn't puke all over like I did last year when I got them all at once). Here's me yawning in the car because we had to be there at the CRACK OF NINE! Oy!



I got right into a room to wait for Dr. Graves...

OK, mom...tell me again...HOW many shots do I get today?


Are you SURE it's only two?

You better not be messing with me...you'll be sorry!


Here I am with Dr. Graves after he gave me my 2 shots (mom was telling the truth after all!)

He is SUCH a nice vet! He even told me that he would take me home with him in a heartbeat! I don't think mom would like that much, but it's nice to know I have options in case she quits being generous with the eats!


Now THIS is where things get weird....
There is another nice vet that works with Dr. Graves named Dr. Boucher. She came in to say HI to me and asked if I'd like to see her BIRD named Joey!

Normally I yell at the birds outside and chase them out of the yard...but mom told me that I had to be nice to this bird.


Maybe if I don't look at it....it will be ok......


Nope...not looking!!!! You can't seeeeeeee me!



Ok...I don't want to be rude to Dr. Boucher...so I stole a TINY peek at Joey (just to be polite of course)


GAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! I think that bird was looking at me!!! I guess I need to start being nice to his relatives outside in the yard!

Other than that...I have a CLEAN bill of health (and NO bird flu! hahahaha!)
