The EYES have it! (HA!)

Mom can't remember if she blogged/shared this...but a few months back, our vet told us that I have Pigmentary Keratitis in my eyeballs. Mom and Dad give me my Tacrolimas drops and don't make a big farkakte deal about it, but Dr. Boucher (one of my regular vets) wanted me to get checked out by a Doggie Opthamologist just to be sure my treatment was working and there wasn't something else wrong.

OPTHAMOLOGIST? Aw crap....I hope I don't need GLASSES!!!!
(OMG...doesn't this remind you of Da Bugg Gooroo?)

My appointment at the VCA Specialty Clinic was this morning. Mom got me there and I met this cool dude named BOWIE (like David!)and his nice mom while I was waiting...

We noticed that Bowie had a pretty sweet looking bikini wax job, but it turned out that the poor dude had Lymphoma and he was there for a chemotherapy treatment. Bowie...if you're reading this, we hope you feel better soon!

A nice lady named Karen was my tech today!

She told me I was handsome, so of course I had to give her some sugar!

Here I am with my Eye Doctor...Dr. Budelsky!

He checked my eyes out with some of his fancy tools and asked mom some questions about me. He told mom that I definitely have PK, but doesn't think I need surgery of any kind and that we should continue to manage it with the drops we've had along with a prescription for some additional drops. Easy peasy!

Here I am with my prescription....

Mom says it looks like a MUG SHOT! HAHAHAA

I was just happy that I didn't have to read an eye chart!

Thank you Dr. Budelsky and NiceTechKaren! Mom is very relieved to know that my PK is under control for now and she's going to keep up with my drops and keep an EYE on me (hahahaa....get it....EYE? HAHAHAA!)

***Mom's note*** if some of you use regular meds for your 4 leggers, Kroger pharmacy just recently started carrying pet prescriptions too....MANY of them fall under the $4 generic program too! We lucked out with my new eyedrops today....only FOUR BUCKS at Kroger pharmacy, which meant mom had enough to stop and get me a McCheesyBurger as a reward for being a good boy for the Eye Dr. today!

Annual checkup and pokes with perks

WELL...it's that time of year again...my annual VET visit and various pokes. I actually LOVE going to the Vet's office so I'm usually ok, as long as they don't go messing around with my "brown eye"!

Mom plunked me up on the table and had to fill out this health questionnaire about me. I kept telling her to just mark "NO THANK YOU" so I could just get butt scratches and go home.
Photobucket

Aw CRAP...too late! Someone's here!
Photobucket
OMG...it's my favorite VetTech!

BETSY!!!!!
Photobucket
LOVE Betsy! She calls me "Mr. Salinger" and always has lots of scratches for me!

Then Dr. Graves came in to see me....
Photobucket
He is such a nice Vet! He whispers secrets to me and assures mom that I'm "just right" sizewise and chills her crazy overprotective butt out!!! I was a good boy when I got my shots and sat still when he checked my ears and eyes.

We also did some more visiting....THIS pic is for our buddy Charlie the Golden!
Photobucket
Look Charlie! It's Dr. Boucher!!!! (Charlie knows Dr. Boucher because he used to live here in Indy!)

This is Dr. Boucher's bird, Joey!
Photobucket
Joey was eating an oatmeal cookie for breakfast! Can you see it in her hand (claw?)? She kinda freaks me out...so we went to visit someone else...

BIG PUG!
Photobucket
Can you believe BigPug doesn't have a NAME yet? Someone just dropped him off OUTSIDE the Vet's office with a note to please give him a good home! Now I ask you...WHAT kind of jackassery is that??????

As we were leaving....Betsy brought out a collar and said that it was too small for all of their big doggies, so it's just been sitting there. Seems that someone left it and never came back to claim it, so Betsy thought I might like it!
Photobucket

Here's a pic of the same collar from E-bay (click to biggify)

COACH MAKES DOG COLLARS!!!

Being a "Pug off the old block" LABEL WHORE like my daddy....I proudly showed off my new collar for him when he got home!
Photobucket
Of course he LOVED it! He likes all that stuff with little horsies and alligators on it.

SO...my trip to the vet was AWESOME!!! I wonder what someone might leave behind the NEXT time I go? We're crossing our fingers for a nice new Kate Spade bag for mom!

Happy FRIDAY everyone!!!!

Vet visit and well wishes for Sexy Penny!

Hi everyone!

Mom hauled me in to see the Vet again this morning (she swears she doesn't have Munchausesn by Proxy...she's just a freak about keeping me healthy). I've had these gross cysty looking things on my chin that won't go away and one ruptured and BLED last night which put her RIGHT over the edge!

LOOK...(now look away...I'm HIDEOUS!)

Dr. Graves and one of my favorite techs Lisa both checked me out and said that it's just some folliculitis that has developed a staph infection. I don't have mast cell tumors or anything horrible (WHEW!). Dr. Graves gave me a LASER TREATMENT to kill the bacteria deep down in my chin to help clear up my infection. Check me out!!!

Cool-breeze chillin' with the Pug!!!!

Mom said I was lucky and even told Dr. Graves that she'd volunteer to be a guinea pig to see if the laser would do anything for crow's feet around human eyes...we'll see how that goes.

I have to take antibiotics for 10 days and I have some special medicated wipes for my chin to help clear up the yuckiness. Mom got me some PEGETABLES to make up for the torture.

Mmmm...Pegetables!!!

On a completely different note...we want to direct you over to see our friend Penny and her awesome mom Dana. Penny is a very fabulous, beefy and SEXY Pug who has very suddenly lost her eyesight due to something called SARD (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration). We are thankful to learn that she doesn't have any underlying conditions (like cancer or a tumor) that could have caused this. We know that Penny loves her whippy cream, so here is a HUGE can of it just for her....

Better make it the LIGHT variety...Penny's mom said that her doc said she's a little TOO beefy and sexy ;-)

Happy Tuesday everyone! We hope everyone is healthy and gearing up for Turkey Day!

Pug healing powers and a PSA for all doggies out there.

Hi everyone!
Part of my MIA week last week was spent taking care of my Daddy...he was SICK! He didn't have the Oink Oink Flu or anything...just a nasty cold (that mom refuses to catch!). He stayed in the big cloud bed for TWO DAYS! It was WONDERFUL!
Photobucket
That big lump behind me is Daddy!

I stayed right next to him the whole time!
Photobucket

Mom decided to enhance my PugHealing powers with some homemade chicken soup...
Photobucket
Once the schmaltz was skimmed off...it was VERY yummy!

Here is me waiting for my sample before it went up to Mr. Hacky McMucus
Photobucket

Ahhhhhhh...yummy!
Photobucket

Daddy is doing just fine and is all better now...but we also wanted to share something else with all of you in case you weren't aware of it...

CANINE INFLUENZA! (CLICK HERE to read all about it)
My awesome Vet, Dr. Graves, told mom about this and recommended that I get vaccinated against this yucky disease. I got my first shot a few weeks ago and I get a booster on 11/2. It didn't hurt at all and it was only $20!!!!
Photobucket
Thank you Dr. Graves!!!!
We recommend that EVERYDOGGIE check with your vet to see if this might be something for YOU!

Happy and HEALTHY Thursday to all of you!!!

PeeS. We especially want to send out some "feel better" wishes to our sweet friend Lilo. She's been feeling yucky for a few days now and we hope it goes away asap!

Salinger's Pity Party

(Cue violin music....)
Mom has informed me that I am a "Hot Mess" right now....
Photobucket
Ugh...look away....I'm HIDEOUS!

I was at the vet on Wednesday for an allergy shot and for this yucky ear infection I have in my right ear (look...you can SEE how red and pathetic it is!). THEN...over the weekend, my eyes turned red and were extra boogery. NOW I have a sinus infection with conjunctivitis! Dr. Graves said I look like I'm HUNGOVER!
Photobucket

Our kitchen counter looks like the warehouse for 1-800-PET-MEDS and mom says that trying to get all these drops in me is like trying to give a cat a perm.
Photobucket
Ugh...I wish I felt as good as THIS guy does!!!

SO...let the Pity Party begin! I'm going to spend all day moping and looking pathetic here in Daddy's chair in case anyone is looking for me.

Annual checkup

Happy Hump Day everyone!!!

I had part 2 of my annual checkup at the vet's office today (Mom took me yesterday for part of my shots and then the other part was today so I didn't puke all over like I did last year when I got them all at once). Here's me yawning in the car because we had to be there at the CRACK OF NINE! Oy!
Photobucket

I got right into a room to wait for Dr. Graves...
Photobucket
OK, mom...tell me again...HOW many shots do I get today?

Are you SURE it's only two?
Photobucket
You better not be messing with me...you'll be sorry!

Here I am with Dr. Graves after he gave me my 2 shots (mom was telling the truth after all!)
Photobucket
He is SUCH a nice vet! He even told me that he would take me home with him in a heartbeat! I don't think mom would like that much, but it's nice to know I have options in case she quits being generous with the eats!

Now THIS is where things get weird....
There is another nice vet that works with Dr. Graves named Dr. Boucher. She came in to say HI to me and asked if I'd like to see her BIRD named Joey!
Photobucket
Normally I yell at the birds outside and chase them out of the yard...but mom told me that I had to be nice to this bird.

Maybe if I don't look at it....it will be ok......
Photobucket

Nope...not looking!!!! You can't seeeeeeee me!
Photobucket

Ok...I don't want to be rude to Dr. Boucher...so I stole a TINY peek at Joey (just to be polite of course)
Photobucket

GAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! I think that bird was looking at me!!! I guess I need to start being nice to his relatives outside in the yard!

Other than that...I have a CLEAN bill of health (and NO bird flu! hahahaha!)

Vet visit and a side trip!

Happy Tuesday everyone!
Mom took me to see Dr. Graves (my V.E.T.) this morning so he could make sure my UTI has cleared up. GOOD NEWS! It has!

While we were waiting...mom took this pic of a poster on the wall.
Photobucket
Check the second row down...third dog over! PUUUUUG!!!!!

Here I am with one of my favorite Vet Techs...Lisa. She is so sweet to me and tells me that I'm a good boy even as she's sticking the thermometer up my hiney!
Photobucket

I don't like that hiney treatment...but I kissed her anyway...
Photobucket

Then my buddy Dr. Graves came in to see me!!! My Cinnabon tail got all waggy!
Photobucket
With a Vet this nice...HOW could anypug hate going?

After I got my "all clear"...Lisa took me to see the BIG PUG out in the waiting room!
Photobucket
Can you believe someone just DROPPED him off at the office with a note that said "Please give me a good home!"????

There were too many interesting things to sniff...so mom picked me up and posed me with BigPug.
Photobucket
MOM...you're showing my "business"!!!! Avert your eyes everyone!!!!

After my appointment...mom took me next door to their grooming salon for a nail grinding!
Photobucket

I did NOT enjoy this "side trip" so I've decided not to speak to her for the rest of the day because of this "bait and switch" maneuver she pulled on me today.
Photobucket
That'll fix her!!!!!

Seriously...thank you again to everyone at Bridgeview for keeping me healthy!! You guys are the best!

Have a great Tuesday to everyone! (except mom...she's still in the doghouse with me!)

Another trip to the vet

I had to go to see Dr. Graves again yesterday. My "zit rash" thing is back on my face again. Mom wanted to be sure that's what it was and figured I'd need an antibiotic prescription to help me. She guessed right.
Photobucket

Dr. Graves called it "folliculitis" and said that Pugs are prone to ingrown whiskers that can easily become infected. Do any other Puggys out there have this problem?
Photobucket

Dr. Graves and his staff were so nice (as usual!). They gave me the cute Santa collar that I'm wearing, a paw shaped Christmas stocking and a new stuffed Christmas Pig! WOW! The pig OINKS and plays Jingle Bells when mom squeezes his tummy! I'm not sure if I like him yet...he freaks me out a little.
Photobucket
(Sigh)....Opposable thumbs would make writing my thank you notes SO much easier!

My (not so fun) Vet Adventure

Hiiiiiiiiiii everyone! I'm feeling a bit spacey and out of sorts this evening. I went to the VET today for my annual checkup and shots.

I do love going to visit Dr. Graves and all of the nice ladies that work with him, but today wasn't as much fun as it normally is.

First, mommy got a picture of me on the table in the exam room waiting patiently.
Photobucket
Please mom...NOT that thermometer business again!!!!

Then I posed with one of my favorite Vet ladies...Lisa! She was so gentle when she drew my blood and did other testing type things to my bum.
Photobucket
This is me smiling because Lisa took care of me today!

Then I got to see Dr. Graves! He is so nice and whispers secrets to me! He even told mommy that I was the "prettiest Pug in the practice!" She agrees, but she's a bit biased! Dr. Graves did my shots quickly and I didn't fuss too much.
Photobucket
I'm saying "THAAAAAAAAAANK YOU Dr. Graves!"

On the way out, mommy got a picture of the cool fishtank in the waiting room. I didn't have to wait at all today, so I didn't get a chance to watch the fishies, but maybe next time.
Photobucket
Hmmmm....does Dr. Graves have any fish patients???????

So we left and mommy started to drive the car out of the parking lot, and that's when I started to throw up! ALLLLLLLLL over the front of the car! It wasn't just normal Pug Puke....it was like BRIGHT YELLOW egg yolky puke!!!!!! I had a weird look and didn't seem like myself, so mommy actually went up on the curb with the car and almost hit a guy trying to whip the car around to go back to the vet!

Lisa saw Mommy bring me in and she took me right away and told Dr. Graves that I was having a reaction to one of the shots. They fixed me up and gave me a shot of something and also an IV of something else to help with the reaction and after a while, Lisa said I should be fine. I felt FUNNNNNNNNNY!!!!!!!
Photobucket
UGH!!!! I don't FEEEEEEEEEEL good mommy!

Photobucket
STOP with the camera already and just get me HOOOOOOOOME!

Mommy brought me home and sat with me on the floor for a while and then she put out a pain pill for me with some peanut butter. I just wanted to stand in the kitchen and stare at all the pretty shapes floating by! Check out the bandage on my leg. Have you ever seen anything so pathetic in your LIFE?
Photobucket
I was so out of it...I even tried to wear one of Mommy's old shoes on my other foot!

Later tonight, mommy and Holden did some yardwork and I helped and now I'm getting ready for bed and running around the house with my "night crazies". I think mommy understands that I need to blow off some steam after the day I've had!!!!!!!

Tomorrow, while Holden is at his golf lesson, Mommy is going to walk with me and then she's taking me to the self service dog wash for a VERY scrubby bath! I don't smell very good after the Exorcist episode in the car today!

Mommy wants to give a "shout out" and thank EVERYONE at Bridgeview Animal Hospital that helped take care of me today! I am so lucky that I have the best Vet's office in the world and they take such good care of me! They really do understand how important I am to my family and it really shows through with the great care and service they provide! We love them!!!!!

Good night! I'm getting sleeeeeeeeeepy again! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
