CLOSURE

Ok...we need to put some closure on the fact that our beloved Red Wings LOST game 7 to the Penguins...which means the Stanley Cup has a new home now.
Here are mom and dad BEFORE the game...all happy and excited...
Photobucket

AND...here are their sentiments AFTER
Photobucket

Our Wings flag has been hanging outside since October 07 (at the start of hockey season) and has been proudly waving during their Stanley Cup reign, which ended Friday night. Here is a pic of the sad droopy flag...no longer outside on display.
Photobucket
I look even sadder than usual...don't I?

BUT...Mom and Dad are surprised that they played as far as they did in the series with all of the INJURIES the team had! Check THIS STORY out if you're interested. WOW...talk about some TOUGH GUYS! Speared in the nards??? OH MY! I personally don't have my nards anymore...but I would imagine that it was quite painful!

It's OK Wings...we're still some of your biggest fans and will put our flag back out in October!!! In the meantime...if you're looking to add third backup goalie for Chris Osgood...I'm available!
Photobucket
I'll work for treats...so I'm sure I won't have any impact on the salary cap!

Thank you Heather and Harry!

Hi everyone!
Mom and I had the BIGGEST surprise yesterday! We were sitting here in the study working when our DOORBELL rang and we saw that our mailman (Janie's substitute) had left a PACKAGE on our porch!

We weren't expecting anything, so we were completely surprised to see it was from our Alabama friends Harry Pugalicious and his mom Heather!
Photobucket
COME ON LADY! OPEN IT ALREADY!!!

Right away, we recognized this Pug note as one of MELISSA and EMMITT's PUGNOTES!!!
Photobucket
It says "Just some treats for everyone. I know the beignets are bad for us all, but you should indulge every now and then! Enjoy, Heather & Harry" (AWWWWW!)

Wait a minute...did she say BEIGNETS???? OMG! It's BEIGNET MIX from CAFE DU MONDE in New Orleans!!! Here is a pic of the mix...
Photobucket
Wait a minute...Mom? What's a beignet???
**Mom's note** WELL Salinger...a beignet is a little french doughnut, typically square, topped with powdered sugar and eaten while warm and preferrabley at CAFE DU MONDE in the French Market in New Orleans with a nice mug of cafe au lait!
Photobucket
I was there a few years back and probably ate my weight in beignets, which was no small feat at the time!!! I will make them for you soon and you'll see! Heather must have picked the mix up when she was in N'awlins for us! How sweet!

Ok...what is in this bag with the cute paw print tissue???
Photobucket
WAGATHA'S cranberry cheddar biscuits for MOI! MMMM!
Photobucket

Heather and Harry also sent this DoDahDay can cozy...
Photobucket
My good buddy Hank and I can toss back a few PBR's with this!!!

Thank you SO MUCH guys! We were SO surprised and just love everything!!!!
Photobucket
You made our day!

Pee-s, We hope Midi Kitty is feeling better!

Happy belated birthday Pugsley!

Hi everyone! My "life partner" and BPF had his 2nd birthday last Saturday!!! Mom has been crazy busy with work and other junk, but we FINALLY got around to taking Pugsley his present last night!
Photobucket
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DUDE!

I helped him to open his present bag (we were kind to the Earth and recycled it from the present Stubby gave us last weekend!)
Photobucket
Mom likes this pic of our puggy butts! Quel embarrassment!!!!

We gave Pugsley some of the Mr. Pugsley's Peanut Butter biscuits (since his name is on the box!)
Photobucket
AND this tough-guy looking shirt!
Photobucket

Then mom gave Pugsley some birthday tummy rubs...
Photobucket

and gave Low-rider Lola some snuggles...
Photobucket

of course, no get together with Pugsley would be complete without us doing our Greco-Roman Pug Wrestling!
Photobucket

For the entertainment portion of the evening...Heather helped me to do my Phil Spector impression!
Photobucket
Photobucket
UNCANNY I tell you!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PUGSLEY...I LOVE YOU MAN!!!!

Salinger the Pug's Food Critic's Corner

Bonjour mes chiens! Welcome to our first ever installment of Salinger the Pug's Food Critic's Corner!

Today we will be reviewing MR. PUGSLEY'S PEANUT BUTTER TREATS that Stubby brought me!
Photobucket
Here's me posing with MY box and also the box that mom got for Pugsley for his birthday present (get it? PUGSLEY...MR. PUGSLEY?!)!

Ok...taking in the boquet.....very peanutty on the nose.
Photobucket
I'm also picking up notes of quinoa and brown rice, how INTOXICATING!

Now for a nice bite...
Photobucket

They are VERY crunchy, but not too hard on the ol chompers!
Photobucket
NOM NOM NOM NOM!

I think the fact that they break apart easily makes it more fun because it's like a bunch of little MINI treats to eat!
Photobucket

I'm going to eat another one while Mom puts in her two cents...
Photobucket

**(Mom's note)**Aside from the box and name being INCREDIBLY cute...the box says these are completely vegetarian (no animal by products) and are free of added sweeteners, salt or sugar. I have to think that since that's a good thing for people, it has to be good for doggies too...right? I also like that the only packaging is the cardboard box. There is NO plastic insert, so I feel like I'm being a good human and not adding more crap than I already do to a landfill. OH...and the Pug seems to like them too! **(End note)**

SO...I have to say that Mr. Pugsley's Peanut Butter biscuits get TWO PAWS UP! They are delicious and crunchy and overall a FABULOUS treat! Be sure to whine and give your human "the look" (demonstrated below) until they drive to Whole Foods (or other place that may sell these) and pick up a box. Do your best to make sure the picture of this Mr. Pugsley guy stays HIDDEN or your humans may get some stupid ideas about a new hat for you!
Photobucket

ALSO...since we're talking about food and treats here, be sure to check out Mom's new hairbrained FREEZER PROJECT blog. She's cleaning out the freezer and cooking all the crap she finds in there and taking pictures of it...so far there haven't been anything like Mr. Pugsley's treats...but I've gotten a few tasty bites here and there!

Fabulous grillwork

Since Holden was leaving for Ohio for a few days, Mom gave him the option of WHATEVER he wanted for dinner. He opted to help daddy grill some burgers and corn on the cob! YUMMY!
Photobucket
Mmmm...leave one nice and rare for mom and I please!!!

LOOK what I got!!!
Photobucket

Corn on the cob is SO yummy!
Photobucket
REMEMBER though....DON'T eat the whole COB (yeah, I'm talkin' to YOU Pugsley!)

It's good for "digestive mobility" too!!!
Photobucket
Mom laughs because I leave her "technicolor presents" in the yard and on our walks after I've eaten corn and/or carrots!

Is that TMI???

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Our day with Stubby!

Yes, the rumors are true...I MET STUBBY!!!!
Photobucket
Here he is...the Pug, the myth, the legend (with his daddy Gerry and pretty mommy Michele)!

Stubby's family went to the Indy Pug Meetup with us on Saturday and got to meet some of our other buddies! Unfortunately...MOST were in Kentucky at the Pugapalooza, but it was still a lot of fun!
Photobucket
Here is the traditional "Blogger" pic!
Stubby with his mom Michele
Apollo with his mom Jami
Me (Salinger) with my mom Laura

We celebrated Apollo's birthday at Meetup! His birthday was last month, but his mom brought CAKE for a belated celebration!
Photobucket
Photobucket
Happy Birthday Buddy!!!

In honor of Apollo's birthday and Stubby's visit...I did my impression of a French Bulldog! HAHAHA
Photobucket

It was starting to get a bit warm out...so Daddy and Holden posed with me for one more meetup pic
Photobucket

Stubby and his family came back to our house for some lunch in the nice, cool AC!
Photobucket
Stubby cooled off on the kitchen floor while I chatted with his mom.

We had a yummy lunch of grilled pizza scraps (from the people) and bits of carrot. We were very gentlemenly and got to sit at the table!
Photobucket

Stubby's family brought us the nicest presents!!! What a nice surprise!!!!
Photobucket
Can you BELIEVE all this good stuff! The bag even had PUG STAMPS on it!!!

There was wine from Biltmore Estate (MMM!)
Photobucket
and this adorable tile that Michele and Gerry had made for us! LOOK! That's ME on the tile!!!! How COOL is that???
Photobucket
Dogs are just kids with fur! (well, DUH!)

Mr. Pugsley's peanut butter treats!!!
Photobucket
Heeeyyy...these look familiar!!! CLICK HERE!
(shhh...don't tell Pugsley...but mom went to Whole Foods and got him a box for his birthday too!!!)
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Gerry, Michele and Stubby for the thoughtful gifts!

After lunch, we went outside and played in the yard for a bit...
Photobucket

Then it was time for Stubby and his peeps to head back to Chicago, so we thanked them for spending time with us and I gave Stubby's mom some kisses (awwww!)
Photobucket

and told her that we'd road trip up to Chicago soon to see them again!
Photobucket

We had such a nice time and I had fun playing with my new buddy!!!
Photobucket
"Mom, can we go to Chicago tomorrow?"

Ok...changing gears....
Some of you may know that Holden is spending a few weeks in Ohio with his dad, so Kevin and I decided this was a great time to conduct a little "experiement" and also clean out our OUT OF CONTROL freezers at the same time. Check out our new FREEZER EXPERIMENT blog that we're going to do for 30 days...but maybe more. We'll see how it goes. Let us know what you think!!!

Michigan trip

Photobucket
As you can see from this photo...Salinger is in NO mood to blog today, so I/Mom/Laura and taking over for the day to give a brief rundown of our quick trip last week!

While Salinger was at Little Rascals, Holden, Kevin and I escaped to Michigan for 2 days to visit 3 of my dear friends and their families. I realize that other people's vacation photos are about as exciting as watching paint dry, so if you'd just like to gaze at the above pic of Salinger...you won't hurt my feelings in the least!

We left Wednesday right after Holden was dismissed from school and was officially declared to be a FIFTH GRADER (wow!). We drove to Marshall, MI and stopped at Turkeyville, USA because we've seen the signs for years and also saw them on Food Network and were so anxious to have their "Thanksgiving Dinner" plate!
Photobucket
They tout "family style cooking".........which we kind of agree with...if the cooking were done by the crazy chain smoking drunk Aunt that doesn't know how to cook!!!!

We hate to be food snobs...but you can clearly see that Kevin was NOT a fan...
Photobucket

The best part of that visit was the funny restroom sign!
Photobucket
I am waaaay too easily amused!

Next stop was our destination of Brighton, MI (town where I lived from the time I was six until I graduated from college!). My BFF Susan still lives there with her hubby Tom and two adorable daughters. We stopped by work to see her when we got into town!
Photobucket
She's our favorite Barista!

We spent the afternoon checking out the changes in town, swimming at the hotel and just relaxing with nothing to do. I got up early the next morning to pick up some goodies from Marv's Bakery to deliver to friends and drove by the house where I lived.
Photobucket
The house looks ok, but my dad used to keep the yard absolutely MANICURED and pristine and there were a lot of weeds out by the road and you could just tell that it wasn't given the same level of TLC. :-(

We then went to visit Susan (the Barista in the earlier pic) and her daughters, Olivia (a.k.a. Livvy) and Elyse (a.k.a. Lysie) while Hubby Tom was at work. Here I am with Susan...
Photobucket
Wow...best friends since the first day of 6th grade. You can imagine the stories and dirt we have on each other!!!

The kids had a blast playing together...Holden is a very good babysitter!
Photobucket
We all had lunch at Wendy's!

Next, we went to go visit my friend Beth (author of Blog O' Beth!) who was another one of my best friends through middle and high school. She and her hubby David and kids Lucy and Max live in Texas and were home visiting her parents.
Photobucket
The clothes and hairstyles may have changed on both of us...but it's like 20 some years never even happened!

Mrs. C (Beth's mom) and Holden are kindered spirits. They had a great time going through all of the goodies in her basement and she even gave him some Lego sets that she had been saving!
Photobucket

Mr. C (Beth's dad) has always been a big donut fan...so we brought him some of Marv's finest!
Photobucket

Kevin and 5 year old Lucy discussed current events....
Photobucket

While David and Beth posed for a nice picture outside...
Photobucket
Make sure to check out Beth's BLOG here. She is hilarious and you'll especially enjoy her if you have young human children!

Next stop was our hotel in Southfield, MI where we saw my college sorority sister, Jennifer and her hubby Jeff and boys Riley and Sam.
Photobucket
We used to have VERY BIG hair in the early 90's when we were in college, but I think we look better now with our smaller hair!

We had to laugh because Kevin and Jen met face to face for the first time the day we took these pictures.......so how does that explain the genetics involved in this picture with her 2 boys??? (HAHAHAHAA!)
Photobucket
We had a great time swimming with them and just hanging out and catching up.

Next morning, I took a paparazzi style pic of Kev and Holden having breakfast in the cafe below while I was 7 floors up
Photobucket
Hey is that Jon Gosselin and another mystery woman behind them??? HAHAHAHAA!

We headed for home, but had to make our usual "last official Michigan stop" and pick up my piece of Grand Traverse cherry pie. Mmmmmm...nothing like those sour Michigan cherries!
Photobucket

So that was some highlights from our whirlwind 2 day trip to MI! I promise that tomorrow we will return to our regularly scheduled PUG programming and will tell you all about our big day with STUBBY!

Happy Monday everyone!
