More yard issues

Ok, so we have this big problem in the yard...
Photobucket
SEE it? A nice big bare spot where I jump down from the deck to get to the yard!

Just LOOK at this!
Photobucket
The lawn is BALD!

Mom got this idea that she wants to make a "lower patio" out of cement/pavers or something to cover all that up and make a nice pathway over to the door of the gate...like THIS
Photobucket
BUT mom got some estimates for this type of job last summer and after she recovered from the 3 heart attacks she had (1 for each estimate), she and dad decided that pricewise, it was like putting a new CAR in the backyard (no joke!)

SO...it's time to get creative and think up a plan B.

Mom and dad were all excited when they found THESE at Sam's Club!

STUBBY! We thought of you right away and totally jumped on it when we found out that they are made from RECYCLED SHOPPING BAGS!!!
Photobucket

So feeling very righteous and GREEN...mom lugged them out to the problem area and she and Holden moved them around like some sort of yard puzzle for the landscaped challenged....
Photobucket
Hmmmmmm....we can still see the nekkid area.........

I don't know about these, they look pretty silly. I think we're going to repurpose them and move them to the SIDE of the house to make a walkway from the gate to the front of the house.

Ok...on to plan C!!!! Guess this weekend we'll be checking on sales for pavers! Mom is having DIY angst at the very thought of it.

Happy Hump Day everyone

You could probally build something with flagstone or brick yourself if you wanted to...it's really not that hard. Watch some shows on DIY or HGTV and you'll see what I mean. You lay gravel, sand, then tamp it down, lay the flagstone or brick, then put sand between edges and...viola!

Do they make Rogaine for yards? Maybe a toupe'?

HEHEHE I made a joke!!!

ANYWAY, yeah... I have no advice. I am landscaped challenge. My backyard has turned into a JUNGLE and I might NEVER be able to get it mowed, because it won't stop RAINING! UGHHH!

Sorry... had a mini-breakdown there...

They need to put down something soft for you to jump down on...after all Puggers don't have a lot of shock absorbers on their cute little knees!

Thanks for thinking of me Salinger! Those smart stones look really cool. Who would ever think that you could make something like that out of recycled shopping bags. Some people are just so smart.

I showed your bald spot to Mom and she is putting on her creative hat to try to come up with solutions. I wouldn't hold my breath, but you never know what she might come up with.

In the meantime, you can play a game of Twister with the smart stones!

Hi Salinger,
Regular cement is much cheaper than pavers and you can get it colored and stamped these days - that may be a cost effective solution.

Those are very cool. We are sorry your lawn has a bald spot. We will not show you our backyard, as there is more than one "bad" looking spot in it, and we don't want you to think badly of us.

I think your Mommy should put in a Pug platform elevator. You can just walk out to it from the deck, and it would lower you to the grass. My Mommy said that would be expensive...but aren't you worth it?
