Black Eyed Susans

So EVERRRRY year, mom hauls my PugButt outside in the 93938475785 degree heat and 110% humidity to make me pose for a pic with her stoooopid Black Eyed Susans.

I can't figure out what this Susan woman did to earn herself all these black eyes. Maybe because she was LAZY? (GET IT? LAZY SUSAN? hahahahaaa)

Maggie is here visiting for a few days, and of COURSE she had to pose and look all cute and adorable

"Oooohhh...pretty flowers! They're like mini sunflowers!"

Here's what I think of all this heat and mom's farkakte flowers!!!!!!

"Take THAT, Susan!!!!"

Happy Thursday everyone. Stay COOL for crap's sake! (I think this heat is making me crabby!)

I have a green paw!

It's that time of year again...GARDENING!!!!

Mom said it was time to get our herb garden going again, so we drove to Home Depot to do some SHOPPING!

I picked out this nice pot of MINT so we can grow it to make my favorite breath buster biscuits!

We got our loot home and planted before it rained...

The new plants are in the middle...Greek oregano, cilantro, flat leaf parsley, 2 basils and rosemary. The perennials are on each end of the herb garden...chives on the left and sage on the right. I have been working hard and peeing on that sage plant ALL YEAR. Just know that in case you come over and Mom is making Chicken Saltimboca.

The mint went into its own pot.

I keep nibbling at it and mashing my face into it! MMMMMM!

Mom LOVES this snowball bush. She says it looks like a big Hydrangia plant! She planted it when I was a tiny puppy....so it's FOUR years old too!

ACK! We know...the lawn needs to be MOWED, but it was NINTEY FOUR DEGREES (NO JOKE!) here today and it's also rained for like the last 9958439393828289 days straight...so we'll get to it asap!

Ugh...here's what's left of our lilacs....

They were really pretty last week and they smelled up the whole yard! Now they're turning brown and looking pathetic.

OOOHHH...forgot to tell you about the other new addition to the backyard this year!

MY OWN FIRE HYDRANT!!!! Mom and Dad are trying to stop the "polka dotted lawn" syndrome, and got me this thinking I'll pee ONLY on it. HAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!! It's pretty cool, but I still have my usual yard map to leave my pee mails.

NOW hopefully mom won't kill it all!!!

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Happy HOP Day!

Hi everyone!

Last weekend, Mom and Dad were out restaining the deck and dad made a VERY interesting discovery that I had to check out...

It's a big frog/toad!! (maybe Stubby's mom can 'splain the difference to us?)

At first glance...we thought he had deck stain on him, but upon closer inspection, Mom thinks it looks like some sort of skin icky-ness. Click to biggify this dude!

Hmmmm....we think he needs a good Dermatologist!

Mom went back to check on him after she took the camera back inside and he must have hopped away. Bummer!

Happy Hump/HOP Day everyone (hahahaha...get it? HOP? WHOOOO! I kill me!)

Lawn Care Supervisor

Hi everyone! Dad mowed the lawn on Saturday, so I had to supervise...
Photobucket

Ok, good job, Dad! I'll just finish snootering away these grass clippings on the driveway and then we can go in for a nice big bowl of water!!!!
Photobucket

We got in the house and mom started in with the "Mom screeching" and started chasing me around with a washcloth yelling about my SHREK FEET!
Check me out!
Photobucket

She's just jealous because I have a whole GREEN PAW....she's always whining about how she doesn't have a "green thumb" and kills all of her plants! HAHAHAHAA
Photobucket

Looks like it's time for a bubble bath!

Wait...I thought it was GOOD to be GREEN!?!?!?!

Some GOOD yard news

Ok, I know you're all sick of hearing mom kvetch about the yard and the nekkid spot (yadda yadda yadda) so today we're going to share some GOOD news!

Mom got it together and fixed up her herb garden! YAY! I love to snooze in the sun next to all those yummy smelling things!

We have a BUMPER crop of chives already! Any locals want some? Mom will gladly bust you off a hunk!
Photobucket
Speaking of HUNK...check out my form in this pic! I look pawsitively CATLIKE!

Mmmm...chives!
Photobucket
I don't eat them...but I like to sniff them!

Mom also planted some stuff...let's see...basil, Greek oregano and cilantro
Photobucket
MMMM, that means Caprese salad, tatzhiki, and salsa!!!

Ok...I'm hungry now!
Photobucket
Feed me????

Happy Friday everyone!

More yard issues

Ok, so we have this big problem in the yard...
Photobucket
SEE it? A nice big bare spot where I jump down from the deck to get to the yard!

Just LOOK at this!
Photobucket
The lawn is BALD!

Mom got this idea that she wants to make a "lower patio" out of cement/pavers or something to cover all that up and make a nice pathway over to the door of the gate...like THIS
Photobucket
BUT mom got some estimates for this type of job last summer and after she recovered from the 3 heart attacks she had (1 for each estimate), she and dad decided that pricewise, it was like putting a new CAR in the backyard (no joke!)

SO...it's time to get creative and think up a plan B.

Mom and dad were all excited when they found THESE at Sam's Club!
Photobucket

STUBBY! We thought of you right away and totally jumped on it when we found out that they are made from RECYCLED SHOPPING BAGS!!!
Photobucket

So feeling very righteous and GREEN...mom lugged them out to the problem area and she and Holden moved them around like some sort of yard puzzle for the landscaped challenged....
Photobucket
Hmmmmmm....we can still see the nekkid area.........

I don't know about these, they look pretty silly. I think we're going to repurpose them and move them to the SIDE of the house to make a walkway from the gate to the front of the house.
Photobucket

Ok...on to plan C!!!! Guess this weekend we'll be checking on sales for pavers! Mom is having DIY angst at the very thought of it.

Happy Hump Day everyone

Yardwork assistant

Ok, now that you're all up to speed on what I've done for my first year or so, mom can start sharing my day to day Puginess!

This is Memorial Day weekend and the weather is beautiful here in Indy today! The only bad thing (well, bad according to crabby Mommy) is living in Indy during race (the Indy 500) weekend! EVERYWHERE is so crowded and the traffic is terrible and Mommy just likes to stay home and let everyone else do their thing. I think she takes after my grandpa (her dad, but I haven't met him yet!).

Since Holden is in Michigan with his dad and Dadddy took Will and Lizz to the movies to see Indiana Jones, Mommy decided to do some yardwork and mow the lawn, trim and pull weeds. COOL!! I'm the best helper!!!

I'm not really scared of the lawn mowing machine, so I like to sort of walk a few feet next to it and make sure it gets all the grass. By the time I was done, my paws looked like SHREK!
Photobucket
Just look at my paws!!!!!!!!!

Mommy decided to give me a bath to clean my paws up. I LOVE LOVE LOVE baths! I know most dogs hate them, but I LOVE to plop down in the bubbles and let mommy massage me. It feels like I'm at the day spa!
Photobucket
Rub a dub dub.....Puggy in the tub!

Now, I don't know about the rest of my fellow Pugs, but I get INSANE after my bath! Mommy dries me with a towel and I run around looking crazed and making growly noises! I run in circles and all over the house for about an hour after my bath. I sometimes even jump up on her nice bed and roll around on the blankets making growly noises. I'm just SPASTIC I tell you!
Photobucket

So that's been my exciting Saturday. Mommy is going to make chicken for dinner and then we're all going to watch HOCKEY tonight (go Wings!).

Happy Memorial Day everyone!
