A Day at the Beach

Hi everyone!!! We're working on catching up with all of your bloggies and hope we didn't miss TOO much. We've been trying to cram some fun into these HOT days and haven't been around the blogger-machine too much. I have to share one of my fabulous adventures with you.....

The other day, I got to stay in a cool HOTEL!
>
"Ok, THIS is MY bed....you guys can have the other one!"

I slept all night and even got served breakfast in bed!

"What is THIS? KIBBLE???....I saw the room service menu on the desk! Kindly order me two scrambled eggys at ONCE!"

We checked out of the hotel and went for a short drive, then walked through some sand until.....

"HO-LY CRAP CANNOLLIS WITH SPRINKLES!!!"

Could it really be?????

LAKE MICHIGAN!!!! WHOOHOOO!

We went to Central Beach (Part of the Indiana Dunes State Park system). This was a new beach for us to try, but mom did her homework and it is one of the "dog friendly" beaches with lots of sand for me to dig in!

DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG
"HEY...I thought SANDwiches were supposed to be yummy? This one is making my face itch!"

Mom took me for a long beach walk and we found some cool rocks...

"Oooohhh...pretty!"

Holden took me swimming...

"HEY...why do these waves keep chasing me???"

Dad rubbed my belly on the blanket...

"Awwwwww yeah! Beach Blanket Belly Rubs are the BOMB!"

After all that fun, sun and sand, I was TIRED and found a shady spot next to the beach bag for a nap.

"OK, we can go home now!"

We hope everyone is staying COOL out there! This heat is RIDONKULOUS here in the midwest!!! NOT Puggy weather at ALL!

First Time Swimming!

Last week, mom and Holden loaded me into the car, stopped at Petco and bought me THIS farkakte thing...
Photobucket
Dude...seriously....it's SUMMER and eleventy thousand degrees out here! Do I really need a JACKET????

Then we kept driving over to Hank and Molly's house!!! OOOHHHHH! This ought to be good!
Photobucket
WOW! They have a GIANT BATHTUB in their backyard!!!!!!!!!!

I like taking a bath, so mom figured that I might like to try SWIMMING too! At first I wasn't too sure....
Photobucket
HAAAAAAAAAALP!!!!!!!!

But with Holden's help....I REEEEALLY got the hang of it!!! Check me OUT!

Eat my dust Michael Phelps!!!!!

I took a little break and did some poolside lounging with Hank (he perched his booty up on the TABLE!)
Photobucket
He was looking for someone to bring him a Mountain Dew (it really was too early in the day for PBR) and his Nascar hat for some shade!

I hung out with O'Mally too...
Photobucket
Oy VEY...that old bird can YAP about her Lumbago, her damn-good-fer-nothin'-grandkids that never call, write or visit AND she was pretty honked off because she was missing Matlock on TV that afternoon.

Thanks for having us over Hank and Molly (and Sarah & Scott too!). We had a BLAST and I can't wait to come swimming again!
Photobucket
NEXT time...can I go SKINNY DIPPING instead of wearing this stooopid red thing????

***Mom's note*** Don't forget to check out (and leave a comment on) our TASTE OF THE WILD post to be entered for a prize package from their nice rep, Tara!!!! Winner will be drawn WEDNESDAY!!!!! IF for some reason, you can't comment....just send us a pee mail at LAURA0227(at)YAHOO.COM and we'll put your name in the hat!

Lazy summer day

Yesterday was one of those perfect summer days that wasn't too hot and we could be outside for a long time without mom freaking out that I was going to overheat. She took me for my walk in the morning (usually right as the sun is coming up...SO pretty) and then I went back to bed for a bit and THEN it was time to get to work!

LOOK who mowed the lawn yesterday!
Photobucket
Holden did a GREAT job on the lawn and the lines were so straight, even PA would have been proud!

I helped mommy pull weeds and then she got all excited because she hasn't killed this plant yet and it is starting to show FLOWERS!
Photobucket
Ohhhh...pretty purple!

When Holden was finished with the lawn, we had to check out the progress of the herb garden.
Photobucket
Time to make the pesto mommy! The basil is getting BIG!

Then I started to get hot and pant a bit...
Photobucket
Is it time for a popsicle?

Holden got a sugar free orange popsicle (mom is one of those Sugar-Nazi moms!) and his SF Jones Cherry soda on the deck
Photobucket

I got a beef flavored POOCH POP, which I love......when someone HOLDS it for me!
Photobucket
Um....helllllloooooooo? Is anyone going to HOLD the popsicle for me?

Later in the afternoon, mommy snapped green beans and then made the YUMMIEST 3 bean salad with a nice cider vinegar dressing! I liked the green beans, but the other types...not so much
Photobucket
Summer in a bowl!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

**MOM'S NOTE**
Wow...seems like the bean salad looked REALLY good to a few of you so I'm more than happy to share the "recipe". Don't be mad...but I'm one of those "throw it all together" people that really don't follow recipes.....but I guess here is kind of a roadmap for you to make the 3 bean salad that I made.....

1 can kidney beans
1 can white beans (I think I had Great Northern, but cannellini would be good too)
about 2 cups snapped fresh green beans, blanched for about 2 minutes and cooled
about 2 stalks chopped celery
about 2 handfuls chopped red onion
about 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 Tablespoons Splenda (you could use sugar, but sugar and I aren't friends)
Slight drizzle of olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste

Stir it up and let it sit in the fridge to soak up all the flavor. OH...one other tip...I drained and rinsed the canned beans before I threw them in the bowl! I figured all that starchy sludge in the cans would wreck the salad.

That's it! Grab a big spoon and enjoy!
