A new friend!

Ok, mom says to tell you all how sorry we are that we haven't posted anything new in a few days, but she's been swamped with Holden's football schedule, her own work schedule and everything else in between that we won't even bore you with. As Pa (mom's dad) says "She's busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest" which seems like it's pretty busy!
Photobucket
Hahahahahaha!

One thing that mom is still trying to stay consistent with is walking me at least 2 miles in the morning and again in the evening (I have to stay muscular like my daddy, Rufus!). Since Holden is back in school now, we've been going a bit later in the morning after the evil cheesewagon rolls by. Mom has a new walking buddy in the AM named Mrs. Brown and her Boxer named Payton! Payton is SUCH a pretty girl and she is working so hard on her obedience and listening to Mrs. Brown.

VERY nice "down stay" Payton!

After our walk yesterday, Payton and her mom came to our house to get some herbs from the herb garden. Payton and I ran around and played in the backyard and had SO much fun!

After we ran and exhausted ourselves, I tried to teach Payton to use my doggie door!
Photobucket
"Payyyyyyyyyton! In here!!!"

Our moms said she was too big for my door, but I kept trying to help her!

Photobucket
"LOOK! Just push and go in!"

We decided it wasn't going to work, so we went back to playing and then it was time for Payton to go home so mom could get some work done.

Photobucket
"Bye Payton! Thanks for coming over!"

We missed our walk this morning because Holden's school district called a TWO HOUR FOG DELAY so mom just walked me around the block. I'll get to see Payton again tomorrow and this time mom will get pics of Payton's new baby brother...WEISS, the white Boxer! Stay tuned for pics!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Adore Le Pug

We've been tagged with a meme by Sophie and Dixie and also Brutus. Here we go....

Rules:

Obey the Pug, answer the following, and pass on!

1) How did you first learn about Pugs?

I'd seen them before on TV or on greeting cards, but having a dog when I was a kid was just out of the question. I always thought they were so cute and needy looking and in the back of my head knew I'd like to have one some day.

2) What made you get a Pug?

Once I had my own son and he started asking for a dog, I felt like it was time to start thinking about it. A neighbor and good friend (Nancy) had an adorable Pug named Buster that melted my heart. Buster passed away and then they got a new Pug puppy named Gertie! As she got older, she was the PERFECT dog and I used to tell Nancy that if she ever bred that dog....I wanted one of her puppies. The breed seemed like such a good fit for our family and Gertie is such a sweet Pug. Fast forward three years later and Gertie gave birth to Salinger and 5 other brothers and sisters!

This is Gertie with her pups (Salinger is one of them) born 4/15/07

3) Most memorable moment with your Pug (s).

Probably the moment that he "chose" us. When the pups were a week old, we knew we had to choose one but never knew HOW we could make such a decision. Lucky for us, Salinger chose US and wouldn't stop kissing us when any one of us picked him up!

Here's me with our newly chosen "baby dog".

4) What is the most important thing Pugs (or dogs) have taught you?

For me, I was so surprised at how "human" a Pug's personality is. It really is like having another child and it's amazing to me how dogs can pick up on human emotions and feelings. I was amazed the first time Salinger snuggled up with me on the couch when I wasn't feeling well. He does this with all of us and sometimes he's all the medicine we need!
Photobucket
Salinger brought all of his favorite toys up on the couch for Holden when he had the flu last year!

5) Best Thing You Ever Did For Your Pug….aside from loving them, keeping them healthy & happy, and giving them a great life.

Hmmm, I'd say training him very early on and being quite strict about it. After a few initial accidents, Salinger has NEVER made a mess in the house and I feel completely at ease leaving him to roam when we're not here. I suppose it helps that we have a doggie door and a fenced yard too, but STILL...no messes in the house! He's such a good boy!
Photobucket
"HI! This is my Puggy Door! I got it when I learned to be a good boy and go outside to the bathroom!"

6) Post your answers on why you “Adore Le Pug” on your blog and link to the blog who tagged you (or their blog post).

7) Tag 5 or more other bloggers.

We are tagging Emmitt, Rachael, Lex, Devil Dog and Pugsley (we hope this will push his mom into starting a blog for him!)

Happy Thursday everyone!

Back to school

My big brother Holden is in FOURTH grade now! This is his official annual "First Day Of School" picture that mom took on Friday (I know...starting school on a FRIDAY? WTF?)

Photobucket
SO handsome!

Today is Monday and it's brother's first FULL day of school (Friday was just a half day). I knew something was up when he got up early and waited by the door. THEN....that big evil cheesewagon pulled up and took him away! :-(

Photobucket

Now I'll be sad and mopey until the cheesewagon brings him back to me around 3:30.

Photobucket
It's SO tragic!!!!!!!

Try to have a nice day everyone. I'll just be here...moping and sitting in mommy's lap while she's working. SIIIIIIIGH.

We're baaaaaaack!

Hi again everyone!

Ok, computer is back and fixed, vacation is over (everyone had a great time!) and Holden is now an official FOURTH grader (how is that possible?).

While mom is getting herself back into her regular routine AND in honor of the Olympics in Beijing, we'll share this...

Photobucket
I've always heard that it's important to embrace your own cultural history, so I chose to wrap my head around some delicious cashew chicken.

Photobucket
MMMMMMM! It's SO GOOD!

Holden said that good boys get dessert, so he gave me a fortune cookie!
Photobucket

Do you think EATING one's fortune is bad luck?
Photobucket
We have no clue what it said! WHO ever thought it was a good idea to put PAPER in COOKIES anyway????

More later! Stay tuned!

Happy Sunday everyone!
