Adore Le Pug

We've been tagged with a meme by Sophie and Dixie and also Brutus. Here we go....

Rules:

Obey the Pug, answer the following, and pass on!

1) How did you first learn about Pugs?

I'd seen them before on TV or on greeting cards, but having a dog when I was a kid was just out of the question. I always thought they were so cute and needy looking and in the back of my head knew I'd like to have one some day.

2) What made you get a Pug?

Once I had my own son and he started asking for a dog, I felt like it was time to start thinking about it. A neighbor and good friend (Nancy) had an adorable Pug named Buster that melted my heart. Buster passed away and then they got a new Pug puppy named Gertie! As she got older, she was the PERFECT dog and I used to tell Nancy that if she ever bred that dog....I wanted one of her puppies. The breed seemed like such a good fit for our family and Gertie is such a sweet Pug. Fast forward three years later and Gertie gave birth to Salinger and 5 other brothers and sisters!

3) Most memorable moment with your Pug (s).

Probably the moment that he "chose" us. When the pups were a week old, we knew we had to choose one but never knew HOW we could make such a decision. Lucky for us, Salinger chose US and wouldn't stop kissing us when any one of us picked him up!

Here's me with our newly chosen "baby dog".

4) What is the most important thing Pugs (or dogs) have taught you?

For me, I was so surprised at how "human" a Pug's personality is. It really is like having another child and it's amazing to me how dogs can pick up on human emotions and feelings. I was amazed the first time Salinger snuggled up with me on the couch when I wasn't feeling well. He does this with all of us and sometimes he's all the medicine we need!

Salinger brought all of his favorite toys up on the couch for Holden when he had the flu last year!

5) Best Thing You Ever Did For Your Pug….aside from loving them, keeping them healthy & happy, and giving them a great life.

Hmmm, I'd say training him very early on and being quite strict about it. After a few initial accidents, Salinger has NEVER made a mess in the house and I feel completely at ease leaving him to roam when we're not here. I suppose it helps that we have a doggie door and a fenced yard too, but STILL...no messes in the house! He's such a good boy!
